Paid places at events
How a host sells places at an event, and what you get when you pay for one.
A host can put a price on the places at their event. When you pay for a place, the host sells it to you, not Robin. You pay by card through Stripe, and the money goes to the host's own Stripe account. Robin keeps 10% of each sale.
Paying for a place
On a paid event, choose the Pay button, which shows the price. Stripe's checkout opens, and you pay there. Then you're going: you see the join link, and the time is blocked on your Calendar.
Robin never sees your card details. You give them to Stripe.
Refunds
The host handles refunds. Check the event description for their refund policy, or message the host. A host's refund policy doesn't limit your legal rights. If the host cancels the event, they must refund you in full. When a host refunds you, Robin gives back its share of the fee on what they refund.
Choosing Can't make it doesn't refund you by itself. Message the host about a refund. Until the event starts, you can say yes again at no cost.
Selling places as a host
- Open Accept payments in your account and choose Set up with Stripe. Stripe asks for your details and your bank account. You can set up as an individual or as a business.
- When Stripe says your account can take payments, add a price to an event you host. Robin shows what you keep from each sale before you save.
- Members pay before they're going. The Accept payments page lists what you've sold.
Your prices are in the currency of your bank account. Once someone has paid, the price of that event is fixed.
What a host is responsible for
You sell in your own name, and the money is yours. You describe the event and run it as described. You set your refund policy, and you refund every buyer in full if you cancel. You make refunds and answer disputes from your Stripe dashboard. You handle the tax on what you earn.
Honest limits
- Robin doesn't refund a cancelled event for you. Refund each buyer from your Stripe dashboard.
- A refund doesn't take away the member's place by itself. Ask Jon if you need a place removed.
